Storage systems for heavy loads and pallets
Palletized loads are the backbone of most warehouses and distribution centers. Choosing the right storage system for your pallets determines your installed capacity, inventory turnover and cost per position. At DEVA, we design industrial storage systems for heavy loads (conventional and high-density) and, when the volume justifies it, automated solutions that make the most of your height and reduce manual intervention.
Which pallet racking should you choose for your turnover?
Selective racking: direct, individual access to every pallet, with 100% selectivity. Ideal for many SKUs and high variety.
Double-deep racking: two pallets deep; more density without giving up a conventional structure.
Drive-In/Drive-Through: high-density block storage; space utilization of up to 85% depending on the design. LIFO in Drive-In; FIFO in Drive-Through.
Push-Back: up to 6 pallets deep per level, LIFO operation and fast maneuvers from a single aisle.
Pallet flow racking (dynamic): gravity-fed FIFO flow, ideal for high turnover and perishable product.
Pallet Shuttle: semi-automatic FIFO or LIFO flow; like dynamic or pallet flow racking, it is ideal for high-turnover operations and perishable product.
- 100% selectivity of selective racking
- up to 85% space utilization with Drive-In/Drive-Through
- up to 6 pallets deep per level (Push-Back)
Vertical space utilization for pallets
When height is the challenge, we integrate clad-rack warehouses, where the racking also supports the building structure, with heights that can exceed 40 m depending on regulations, and mezzanines or platform floors to create new operating levels without major civil works.
Automated pallet storage (AS/RS)
For maximum density and accuracy, we integrate AS/RS with SRM stacker cranes that store unit loads of virtually any size and weight, with energy savings through regeneration and performance from -30 °C to +55 °C; and four-way shuttle systems that move in every direction and maximize throughput.
Autonomous pallet movement
Pallet AMRs transport pallets floor-to-floor or deliver them to elevated stations, with capacities of up to 1,500 kg depending on the model, reducing forklift traffic and product damage.

Frequently asked questions
- What is the most versatile pallet racking?
- Selective racking, because it offers direct, individual access to every pallet and suits operations with many SKUs; it puts accessibility ahead of density.
- Which system stores the most pallets in the same space?
- High-density block storage systems (drive-in, push-back, pallet flow and pallet shuttle) and, in automated storage, AS/RS and four-way shuttles, which make the most of height and depth.
- Is it worth automating pallet storage?
- When volumes are high or you need density or inventory accuracy, AS/RS reduce manual intervention and maximize the available height; the ideal starting point is a diagnostic study.
